In brief

The animals have had enough: humans are always talking about doing something to prevent wars and avert climate catastrophe, but nothing happens. If people are no longer able to create the foundation for a good and peaceful coexistence, the animals will have to do it! Animals from the farthest north, the deepest south, the wildest west and the farthest east meet »in the middle«. They realise that their world is coming apart at the seams: climate change, air pollution and the littering of the oceans are threatening to shrink their habitats. So the Animals’ Conference is convened, with creatures from all over the world travelling to raise their voices against these threats and injustices. In the middle of it all we meet Erich, the roving reporter, who writes down every detail of this very real story. The Animals’ Conference quickly passes a resolution: »We’re going to take a stand! No more peace and quiet – it’s time to cause some trouble!« Together with members of the State Opera Chorus, the Semperoper Children’s Choir and its conductor Claudia Sebastian-Bertsch will present a concert version of »The Animals’ Conference«, created by Johannes Wulff-Woesten and Manfred Weiß from the book of the same name by Erich Kästner, here performed on the front stage of the Semperoper.
